Have you ever heard of the term "life coach" and wondered what it was?
I remember first thinking that it was probably some sort of counseling position or some sort of an inspirational speaker, but I didn't have quite a grasp on what a life coach really was.
I have been privileged enough to take a life coaching course on campus at BYU-Idaho. I signed up for the class, not exactly knowing what was ahead. However, I was so excited for the opportunity to learn about life coaching; those really are my two favorite words.
Life is a time full of experiences. It's a time where we grow and where we fall. Life has limitless aspects - education, physical health, finances, family, friendships, religious beliefs, and so on. Through it all, we become. We make decisions that mold and shape us.
A coach is someone who teaches and instructs. A coach doesn't know everything, but they know enough to help those who need guidance.
Through the course of the semester I have learned a lot both in and outside of the classroom. I have come to know what a life coach really is. It's that person who helps people to take the place that they're at and to help them forward. Everyone should have the opportunity to know about life coaching, how and where to access a coach, and why someone would even want to meet with one.
As a life coach, I am a motivator. I am a guide for people that are making important choices wherever they are at, low or high. I get to be that helping hand that reaches out to those who are looking to make positive changes in their life.
Coaches are beneficial to anyone. They are someone to be held accountable to, someone who will work with you in reaching your goals.
Take a journey with me as we explore different avenues of coaching and how it can serve individuals and families in this great journey we call life.
